Stunning large apartment for 2 Persons, 60 sqm on the first floor with Loggia and sitting area. Kitchen corner - living/dining room - 1 double bedroom - 1 bathroom.
Access to this apartment is through the gate that opens onto the courtyard at the side of the castle. On one side of the courtyard is a flight of stairs that leads up to a beautiful covered loggia overlooking the courtyard. This spacious loggia is furnished and exclusive to this apartment.
Private entrance is into a short hall with door to the complete bathroom with shower box. Through the hall the apartment opens into a huge, beautiful room with monumental fireplace and kitchen corner on one side that is complete with gas range and fridge. This room is extremely romantic and beautifully furnished. On one side of this room is a metal staircase that leads up to the open mansard with double bed.

These magnificent holiday accommodations are located in a castle in the first town of Lazio just over the border with Tuscany.
Dating back to the 12th century, this castle has a pentagonal base which incorporates a main tower and two secondary towers interconnected by walkways and a drawbridge, one of 19 still working in Italy.
The castle looms over the Via Cassia and dominates the valley of the Paglia River, with Mount Amiata in the background. Surrounded by woods and green valleys, this rare example of medieval fortification survives in its original state and offers charming accommodations and a wonderful hospitality, where one can breathe history and culture without renouncing modern comforts.
The castle consists of 7 holiday apartments. Three flats are in the 14th century fort attached to one side of the castle by the town’s defensive walls. Although they share a common access, as well as the path leading through the gardens to the swimming pool (12x6 mt, open from middle May to middle October), each is completely independent and has its own private furnished outdoor area.
Clustered around a medieval courtyard are the other four flats, also with private outdoor areas and connected to the swimming pool by an ancient tunnel passing under the castle. All the apartments have a fireplace well stocked with wood for romantic, cosy evenings.

These holiday apartments are a little paradise where to escape from modern life. Situated just outside the ramparts is the swimming pool surrounded by spacious grounds with wide panoramic terraces connected to the tower gardens with its lemon trees and box hedges, old wisteria covering the stone walls, Banksianae roses lying against ancient trees, streams of iris painting the landscape and towering cypresses. Overlooking the swimming pool, a restored ancient barn hosts the restaurant where one can savour long forgotten recipes and typical regional food immersed in the peace and beauty of the surrounding gardens.
Half way between Florence and Rome (both at 150 km), the castle is in an ideal position for visiting most art centres of central Italy. The surroundings offer Orvieto, Pitigliano, Lake Bolsena, Tuscania, Viterbo, Pienza and Montepulciano.
