Ancient country house made of stone with a pool and a lovely garden with a view of the hilly landscape
The ancient country house stands in a pristine landscape and enjoys a magnificent view from an altitude of 450 metres above sea level, surrounded by the tranquillity of the Umbrian hills, in the midst of vineyards and olive groves.
The living room-kitchen on the ground floor provides access to the portico, furnished with a table and chairs. The site spans around 10,000m², part of which has a big garden with a lawn, while the majority of the land is covered with olive, oak and cypress trees and indigenous bushes. The pool, surrounded with loungers, parasols and a shower, provides a lovely view of the hilly landscape. In front of the country house there is an ancient, handmade well. In front of the house there is also an old wood-burning oven made of stone with a barbecue, for baking pizza or bread and enjoying sociable grill evenings. There is a private parking space on site.
The ancient country house from the 19th century is made entirely of stone. It was restored conscientiously by the owners in 2003, preserving the original structure and reusing original materials wherever possible. The supporting walls are worth a special mention, built of river stone and fully preserved. In the interior the antique flair was also preserved during the renovation: the four-metre-high ceilings feature wooden beams and clay bricks and the floors are made of handmade clay tiles, some of which are original, so that time appears to have stood still. The ground floor of the country house has a spacious living room-kitchen with a fireplace, a big dining table, sofas and a well-equipped, brick-built kitchen. The ground floor also has a bedroom with a double bed (160 x 190cm) and a bathroom with an en-suite shower, a bedroom with two single beds (each 80 x 190cm) and a bathroom with a whirlpool. Outdoor stairs lead to the first floor, which has a spacious living room with sofas and a dining table, providing access to a well-equipped kitchen with a wood-burning oven and to a storage room with a laundry area. There are two bedrooms, each with a double bed (160 x 190cm), of which one has a bathroom with an en-suite shower, as well as a bedroom with two single beds (each 80 x 190cm). There is a further bathroom with a bath. All the windows of the villa are fitted with fly screens. The living room and the kitchen look out over the pool, while the bedrooms overlook the surrounding hilly landscape. The rooms are tastefully and elegantly furnished, in an antique Arte Povera style. The bedrooms have a precious charm and all have wrought-iron beds. The house provides every comfort and convenience: a TV in the living rooms and in the bedrooms, a washing machine, coffee machine, DVD and D player, stereo system. The fireplaces and the wood-burning oven cannot be used.
All around the villa there are many paths for going on long walks in nature. Shops, supermarkets and a post office can be found in Allerona Scalo, 2.5km away. Orvieto is about 6km away and provides all kinds of shops.
An unpaved road around 1.3km long leads to the house, which is not suitable for low-lying sports cars.
